Joseph Avalos Involved in Deadly Pedestrian Crash on 170 Freeway near Oxnard Street

 
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA (June 2, 2022) — Joseph Avalos suffered an injury in a fatal pedestrian accident on the 170 Freeway near Oxnard Street Tuesday night.
 
According to Officer Cruz of the Los Angeles Police Department, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, a person was either standing or walking in the carpool lane of the northbound freeway when a car driven by a Los Angeles City employee struck the individual in the freeway lanes.
 
Soon after, authorities reached the area to investigate and found the pedestrian with major injuries. Despite efforts to save the victim, authorities pronounced the person dead.
 
As for the driver, later identified as Avalos, he suffered unknown injuries and received hospital care before being discharged Wednesday.
 
If anyone has more information on this deadly pedestrian accident, which closed the freeway for more than six hours and well into Wednesday morning, please call the California Highway Patrol.
