Man Injured in Bicycle Accident on Highway 1 near Highway 68 [Monterey, CA]

Bicyclist Sustains Injuries after Colliding with Pickup Truck on Highway 1 in Monterey

 
MONTEREY, CA (June 1, 2022) – A man was injured in a bicycle accident on Highway 1 in Monterey Friday morning on May 27.
 
The accident happened around 10:47 a.m. just near Highway 68. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was riding his bicycle when he collided with a pickup truck towing a van.
 
Officers arrived and found the bicyclist on ground holding his leg. Paramedics took the patient to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
 
It is unclear if the driver of the pickup truck has stayed after the crash. It is also unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. Further investigation is underway.
 
When riding a bicycle, make sure you wear cycling gear and equipment that will make you more visible. If there is a bike lane, ride in that lane. Also, make sure the driver sees you and knows to stop.
