Head-On Crash on Highway 88 in Amador County Leaves 1 Dead

AMADOR COUNTY, CA (April 21, 2024) – One person died and three other people were injured in a head-on accident on Highway 88 in Amador County Friday night on April 19.

The fatal accident happened around 6:00 p.m. at Silver Drive, just near Pioneer and about 30 miles northeast of San Andreas. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford Explorer was heading westbound on the highway when it was struck by an eastbound Chevrolet Trailblazer head-on.

The Ford went down an embankment off the roadway and stopped. The Chevrolet was blocking both lanes of the highway.

One person suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The identity of the deceased was not immediately available.

Three other people sustained unspecified injuries. One of them was airlifted while the other two were taken by ground ambulance.

It is currently unclear what led to the crash. Further investigation is underway.

LANCASTER, CA (April 21, 2024) – Louie Martin Cervantes died in a hit-and-run crash in Lancaster Thursday on April 11.

The fatal crash happened in the 16200 block of Valeport Avenue, just near 162nd Street East and Avenue O. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Cervantes was struck by a vehicle which fled the scene.

Cervantes suffered fatal injuries from the crash and he died at the scene. He was 46 years old.

Authorities identified a woman known as Erica as a person of interest, who was being sought for questioning and presumed to be the driver of the involved vehicle.

Speeding Motorcyclist Dies after Fiery Crash with Pickup Truck in Lakeside

LAKESIDE, CA (April 21, 2024) – Jeremy Ponton died in a fiery motorcycle accident in Lakeside Tuesday evening on April 16.

The fatal accident happened just after 8:00 a.m. on Winter Gardens Boulevard near Lemon Crest Drive. According to the California Highway Patrol, Ponton was riding a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R south on Winter Gardens Boulevard at high speed when a 2013 Ford F- 150 backed out of a driveway north of Lemon Crest Drive into his path.

Ponton’s motorcycle and the pickup truck collided and both burst into flames.

Responding paramedics rushed Ponton to UCSD Medical Center in San Diego, where he was pronounced dead. He was 34 years old, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The driver of the Ford and his passenger were unharmed.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, which is under investigation.

45-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 21, 2024) – Estella Andino was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Bakersfield early Saturday morning on April 13.

The fatal accident happened just after 2:00 a.m. at Ming Avenue and South P Street. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, Andino was walking on Ming Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle that was traveling eastbound.

After the crash, the involved driver fled the scene.

First responders found Andino lying in the roadway with fatal injuries. They pronounced her dead at the scene.

The victim was 45 years old, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.

CALAVERA COUNTY, CA (April 18, 2024) – A head-on accident caused blocked traffic lanes on Highway 49, Friday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on April 16. For reasons still under investigation, two vehicles collided head-on near Big Bar Road.

Responders temporarily blocked affected traffic lanes to make way for clearing operations and an investigation. At least two tow trucks arrived to remove the damaged vehicles.
