Red-Light Accident Occurs on 24th Street in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 11, 2021) – A toddler is now in critical condition following a red-light accident on 24th Street on October 10.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at Chester Avenue.
Based on an initial report, a vehicle ran a red light at the intersection. Subsequently, it collided with another vehicle. At this point, descriptions of the involved vehicles are not available.
As a result, a 3-year-old and at least one other person suffered injuries in the incident. Preliminary investigations revealed that the other party who was carrying the toddler was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The toddler is now in critical condition at an area hospital.
In addition, officers ordered road closures on 24th between K Street and Chester Avenue while crews were active at the scene.
As of now, the Bakersfield Police Department is still investigating this red-light accident on 24th Street. Also, no other details are available.
