Anthony Monterroza Killed in High-Speed Accident on New Skyway [Magalia, CA]

Authorities Identify Driver Killed in Magalia High-Speed Crash, Passenger Hospitalized

 
MAGALIA, CA (April 8, 2021) – Authorities have identified the driver who died in a high-speed accident in Magalia Monday afternoon, April 5.
 
He was 23-year-old Anthony Monterroza of Manteca, according to the Butte County Coroner’s Office.
 
The accident happened just before 4:00 p.m. on New Skyway just past Pentz Road. Monterroza was speeding and driving recklessly when he came around a coroner too fast. The car went off the roadway, falling 60 feet, hitting a tree and spinning around.
 
As a result, Monterroza sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
A passenger in the car suffered moderate to major injuries. Paramedics took the patient to a hospital for proper treatment.
 
Both Monterroza and his passenger were wearing their seatbelts and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor, the CHP said.
 
An investigation into this accident is active and ongoing.
