Pedestrian in His 30s Dies in Van Nuys Hit-and-Run on Hazeltine Avenue
VAN NUYS, CA (June 17, 2021) – A man in his 30s was killed in a pedestrian hit-and-run on Hazeltine Avenue in Van Nuys Sunday evening.
The fatal incident happened shortly before 9:00 p.m. on June 14, just south of Gault Street. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the man was crossing the roadway when a northbound silver sedan struck him.
The driver of the sedan then fled the scene without attempting to render aid to the pedestrian, police said.
Paramedics rushed the man to a local hospital in grave condition. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was declared dead.
Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect. They said the involved vehicle has severe damage to the front end and windshield area.
A reward of up to $50,000 is available to whoever provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
