Raymond Avalos Detained in Fatal DUI Crash on 57 Freeway near Covina Boulevard
SAN DIMAS, CA (June 22, 2021) — Raymond Avalos was arrested in a fatal DUI accident on the 57 Freeway near Covina Boulevard Monday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the single-car accident happened around 11:55 p.m. on the southbound side. For DUI reasons, 32-year-old Avalos veered to the right and struck a metal guard rail at speeds of 55 mph. Subsequently, his female passenger who was purportedly unrestrained in a seatbelt was thrown from the vehicle. As a result of the crash, the 38-year-old woman died from her injuries.
Shortly after, police arrived and arrested the Victorville man on DUI charges. At this time, the crash remains under investigation. However, if anyone has more information, please contact the CHP.
