Driver Killed, Passenger Injured in Rollover Accident on 8 Freeway near Tavern Road [Alpine, CA]

Rollover Accident on 8 Freeway in Alpine Kills Driver and Badly Injures Passenger

 
ALPINE, CA (November 4, 2021) – A driver died and a passenger suffered major injuries in a rollover accident on 8 Freeway in Alpine early Wednesday morning.
 
The accident happened a little after midnight on November 3, just east of Tavern Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 32-year-old El Cajon man lost control of his Chevrolet Blazer for unknown reasons. The SUV then overturned on the freeway.
 
The driver was thrown from the car and died at the scene. His passenger, a 40-year-old Escondido woman, suffered major injuries. An air ambulance took her to a hospital for treatment.
 
CHP said alcohol and drugs are suspected to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
