Man Killed in Big Rig Accident on Kimberlina Road near Highway 43 [Wasco, CA]

Driver Dies after Colliding with Big Rig on Kimberlina Road near Wasco

 
WASCO, CA (May 22, 2022) – A man was killed in a big rig accident on Kimberlina Road near Wasco Friday morning on May 20.
 
The accident happened around 5:57 a.m. just east of Highway 43. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a red 2004 Ford Explorer eastbound on Kimberlina Road when he lost control for unknown reasons. He then collided into an oncoming Kentworth truck carrying a tanker filled with fuel.
 
As a result of the crash, the truck overturned and ruptured its fuel tank, as well as one of the cargo tanks, causing an unknown amount of diesel fuel to be spilled onto the shoulder.
 
The driver of the SUV suffered significant injuries. Paramedics rushed him to Kern Medical, where he later died. He was not wearing a seat belt. The Kern County Coroner’s Office only identified him as a 57-year-old Wasco resident.
 
The driver of the Kentworth sustained minor injuries and declined to be taken to the hospital.
 
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in this crash. The CHP asked anyone with further information to call them at at 661-396-6600.
