Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Benet Road in Oceanside

 
OCEANSIDE, CA (June 6, 2022) — A woman died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Benet Road near Leepish Drive Sunday morning.
 
According to Oceanside Police Department Sgt. Adam Morales, the fatal hit-and-run crash happened around 8:19 a.m. For unknown reasons, a driver in a Honda SUV left the road and drove onto a sidewalk, where the suspect struck a woman walking on the pavement. Subsequently, the driver left the scene, making a U-Turn and heading westbound on Benet Road.
 
Soon after, responding officers rendered life-saving measures on the victim. However, the woman, who remains unidentified, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
 
At this time, the Oceanside Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation team needs the public’s help in locating the suspect or vehicle involved. If anyone has seen the suspect, please call Accident Investigator Clint Bussey at 760-435-4412.
