67-Year-Old Ricardo Berroya Hit, Killed by Car on Highway 1 [Daly City, CA]

67-Year-Old Ricardo Berroya Struck, Killed by Driver on Highway 1 near 280 Freeway

 
DALY CITY, CA (July 18, 2022) — Ricardo Berroya died after being hit by a car on Highway 1 near the 280 Freeway.
 
According to the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office, 67-year-old Berroya fell victim to the Peninsula crash that happened around 5:00 a.m. Monday. For unknown reasons, the Daly City resident crashed his silver Nissan sedan into a wall during heavy fog conditions. After exiting his vehicle, a gray SUV struck him before several cars after that collided with the vehicles.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded to the scene and took Berroya to a hospital where he died.
 
Due to the nature of the accident, authorities had to close the northbound traffic lanes, which reopened approximately two hours later.
 
At this time, investigators have not disclosed the primary cause of the accident. However, we will update this report once we receive more information.
