Man Dies after Driver Crashes into Big Rig on Highway 99 in Fowler

 
FOWLER, CA (July 8, 2022) — A man died after a car crashed into a big rig on Highway 99 near Manning Avenue Thursday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal two-vehicle accident took place around 7:30 a.m. For unknown reasons, a 53-year-old man operating a commercial semi-truck moved into the next lane over. Subsequently, a car described as a Toyota Prius that had already been in that lane crashed into the semi-truck, resulting in a fire.
 
Immediately after, nearby Good Samaritans rushed to the burning vehicle and rescued a 10-year-old girl from Selma. The same man who reportedly saved the girl tried to save the driver, a 57-year-old man from Selma. However, attempts fell short, and the driver died at the scene.
 
Following the accident, authorities interviewed the driver of the Freightliner and ruled out DUI as a cause. However, the details need more investigating. If anyone has more information, please contact the authorities.
