One Killed, Briana Day Arrested in DUI Accident on North Main Street [Walnut Creek, CA]

Police Arrest Briana Day for DUI after Hitting 2 Pedestrians in Walnut Creek, Killing 1 of the Victims

 
WALNUT CREEK, CA (July 31, 2022) – One person died and police arrested Briana Day for DUI after hitting two pedestrians early Saturday morning on July 30.
 
The fatal crash happened around 1:50 a.m. at North Main Street and Pringle Avenue. According to the police, the 28-year-old suspect from Concord was driving a pickup truck when she struck two pedestrians before crashing into a cement pillar. The victims were walking on the east sidewalk when they were hit.
 
One of the pedestrians died at the scene. Paramedics took the other victim to a local hospital with major injuries.
 
The Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased victim once family members are notified.
 
Police arrested Day on suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. Jail records show Day was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility and was being held in lieu of $400,000 bail.
