SUV Involved in Police Pursuit Plows into Baldwin Hills Home Killing 86-Year-Old Woman
BALDWIN HILLS, CA (June 27, 2021) – Aida Villavicencio was killed after an SUV crashed into a home in Baldwin Hills early Saturday morning.
The fatal crash happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 3900 block of South Buckingham Road. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the SUV rear-ended a LAPD patrol car at a red light. Officers got out to investigate, but the driver sped away.
A short time later, the driver crashed into the victim’s house and severed a natural gas line.
Two Los Angeles Police officers arrived at the house in an attempt to rescue two elderly residents who were trapped inside the residence. There was no fire.
Villavicencio, an 86-year-old woman, died at the scene. An elderly male victim suffered a head trauma and was in critical condition at the hospital.
The suspect, 26-year-old Eliseo Ixchopcalel, was taken into custody and was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
The police officers sustained minor injuries but declined transportation.
An investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
