Morning Rollover Crash on 5 Freeway near California Avenue Kills Tracy Man
MENDOTA, CA (June 28, 2021) – David Coubrough was killed in a rollover accident on 5 Freeway in Mendota Saturday morning, June 19.
The accident happened around 8:08 a.m. on 5 Freeway, just north of California Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 60-year-old man from Tracy was driving a 2002 Ford southbound on the freeway. As he approached the intersection, he steered to the left in an attempt to avoid a stopped vehicle.
The sudden movement caused the Ford to veer off the roadway. It then went back across the southbound lanes and overturned into a dirt embankment, where it landed on its roof.
Paramedics arrived soon after and pronounced Coubrough dead at the scene.
At this time, it is unknown if there was an impact with the other vehicle. Further investigation is underway.
