Man Dead, Woman Hurt in Hercules Solo-Car Crash on Highway 4
HERCULES, CA (June 24, 2021) — One man died in a solo-car accident on Highway 4 near the 80 Freeway Wednesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the single-vehicle accident happened around 1:02 am. For unknown reasons, a blue 2008 Toyota Scion xB drove off the road of the transition ramp and crashed. Subsequently, the Toyota became engulfed in flames and trapped the 20-year-old male driver and his 18-year-old female passenger.
Soon after, fire paramedics responded and extricated both victims from the vehicle. Unfortunately, the Antioch man died at the scene but his female passenger from Hercules survived the crash with major injuries.
At this time, detectives have no information on DUI playing a factor. However, if anyone has more information, please contact police investigators at (925) 646-4980.
