Pedestrian Dies after Hit-and-Run on Manzanita Avenue in Carmichael
CARMICHAEL, CA (June 27, 2021) – One person died in a hit-and-run crash at Manzanita Avenue and Fair Oaks Boulevard Monday.
Just after 9:00 a.m. on June 21, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a shooting incident. A private security officer in the area spotted a black pickup driving erratically.
The pickup hit a pedestrian and continued driving erratically. A witness stopped to help, but the truck circled back and struck the witness before fleeing again.
The pedestrian, who was not yet identified, died at the scene.
The pickup then hit another car near Cypress Avenue and Garfield Avenue and pushed it for about 100 yards. The suspect then got out of the pickup and started attacking the driver with a blunt object.
Several motorists stopped and tried to intervene when the suspect pulled a gun and approached a trailer home in the area. A person in the trailer saw the suspect coming and charged out to confront him. A fight began over the gun and some shots were fired but no one was hit.
As the scuffle continued, a second person inside the trailer home came outside and shot the suspect at least once in the upper body, ending the rampage.
Police are still investigating the incident.
We express our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim.
