Reckless Driving Leads to Deadly Fiery Crash at Tehachapi Willow Springs and Backus Roads
KERN COUNTY, CA (June 16, 2022) – One person was killed in a fiery accident at Tehachapi Willow Springs Road and Backus Road in an unincorporated community of Kern County Wednesday evening.
The fatal accident happened around 8:38 p.m. on June 15, just outside Mojave. According to the California Highway Patrol, one car was driving recklessly when it collided into another vehicle. The impact caused both vehicles to burst into flames.
The Kern County Fire Department crews responded and extinguished the fire.
Paramedics also arrived and performed life-saving measures, but at least one occupant died at the scene.
The identity of the victim was withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.
After the crash, crews shut down all lanes in both directions for the cleanup and investigation.
