Rollover Crash Involving Two Pickup Trucks on 580 Freeway in Oakland Kills One Driver

 
OAKLAND, CA (May 19, 2024) – A man was killed in a rollover accident on 580 Freeway in Oakland early Friday morning on May 17.
 
The fatal accident happened around 12:20 a.m. at the Grand Avenue off-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a red Nissan pickup truck and a silver Toyota pickup truck appeared to have sideswiped each other while changing lanes. The impact caused the Toyota truck to overturn. It then went over the guardrail and landed on the Grand Avenue off-ramp.
 
The unidentified driver of the Toyota truck suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Meanwhile, the Nissan swerved into the far left lane and crashed into a guardrail. The driver of the Nissan suffered moderate injuries.
 
CHP officials said drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the crash, which is under investigation.
