Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Semi on Highway 99 in Stockton

 
STOCKTON, CA (May 19, 2024) – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a semi truck on Highway 99 in Stockton early Friday morning on May 17.
 
The fatal crash happened shortly before 5:00 a.m. just south of Cherokee Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2015 Peterbilt semi truck towing a trailer was heading southbound on the highway at around 50 mph when it hit a male pedestrian walking in the road.
 
The impact caused the pedestrian fatal injuries and died at the scene. The victim’s identity was not immediately available.
 
The driver of semi truck driver was unharmed.
 
CHP officials said the truck driver was not under the influence.
 
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
