Michael Carrillo Dies in Moped, Car Crash near Elkhorn Road and Castroville Boulevard

 
MOSS LANDING, CA (May 17, 2024) — Michael Carrillo died in a moped accident near Elkhorn Road and Castroville Boulevard on Wednesday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened around 5:48 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, a 27-year-old Watsonville man driving an eastbound red Honda Civic crashed into a westbound red Honda Forza Moped while turning left onto northbound Elkhorn Road. Subsequently, the impact ejected 52-year-old Michael Pacifico Carrillo from his moped.
 
Soon after, paramedics responded to the scene near Elkhorn Elementary School, but Carrillo passed away from his severe injuries. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office recently identified him.
 
As for the unidentified driver, he was unharmed in the crash. Authorities did not suspect alcohol to have factored into the accident. However, an investigation should confirm what precisely took place.
