Driver Hospitalized After Semi-Truck Rolls Over in 5 Freeway Crash in Corning

 
CORNING, CA (June 12, 2024) — One person suffered an injury in a rollover semi-truck accident on the 5 Freeway near Liberal Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the truck accident happened around 1:47 p.m. Tuesday. A driver lost control of a semi-truck hauling cooking oil for unknown reasons. Subsequently, the big rig overturned on the northbound 5 Freeway near the Rolling Hills Casino.
 
Soon after, CHP officers and paramedics responded and found cooking oil leaking from the crash scene. The driver suffered unknown injuries and was airlifted to Enloe Health for higher care.
 
Authorities did not disclose the severity of the driver’s injuries or what led to the accident. However, they will look further into the cause.
