1 Dead, 1 Injured in Rollover Crash near Highway 905 in Otay Mesa

 
OTAY MESA, CA (June 25, 2024) — One person died in a rollover accident on Highway 905 near Heritage Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the single-car crash happened around midnight. Monday. For an unknown reason, a 19-year-old driver lost control of a BMW 435i. Subsequently, the BMW veered off the road, struck a guardrail and overturned down an embankment.
 
Soon after, emergency personnel responded and freed two 19-year-olds from the heavily damaged vehicle. Tragically, the passenger died at the scene. Officials did not release his name pending family notification.
 
Meanwhile, an ambulance crew took the driver to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
 
At this time, authorities do not suspect alcohol to have played a factor in the accident. However, an investigation into the crash should confirm the details.
