9-Year-Old Boy Killed in Metro Bus Accident at Rosecrans Avenue and San Pedro Street [Compton, CA]

Traffic Accident Involving Metro Bus on Rosecrans Avenue in Compton Kills 1 and Leaves 3 Others in Critical Condition

 
COMPTON, CA (June 25, 2024) – A 9-year-old boy was killed in a traffic accident involving a Metro bus at Rosecrans Avenue and San Pedro Street in the Compton area on Monday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 10:25 a.m. on June 24. According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, a Hyundai Elantra, driven by a 41-year-old woman, collided with the Metro bus in unclear circumstances.
 
The boy was a passenger in the Hyundai. Two other women, ages 35 and 40, were also riding the Hyundai. All four occupants in the car, including the driver, suffered critical injuries from the crash.
 
Paramedics rushed all four patients to a hospital, where the juvenile was declared dead.
 
Authorities withheld the name of the boy pending notification of family members.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the Metro bus sustained minor injuries.
 
There were no passengers aboard the Metro bus at the time of the crash. The series of events leading up to this crash are still under investigation.
