18-Year-Old Boy Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Walerga Road in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, CA June 26, 2024) – Shawn Jordan was killed in a hit-and-run crash in North Highlands area Sunday evening on June 16.
The fatal crash happened around 8:10 p.m. on the north end of the Walerga Road overpass that crosses Roseville Road. According to the Sacramento Police Department, Jordan was walking along Walerga Road that has no sidewalk. He was around the corner from his father’s house when a car struck him.
After the crash, the driver of the car fled the scene.
Jordan slipped into a coma and died in the hospital five days after the crash. He was 18 years old.
Police described the car as a red sedan, possibly a Mitsubishi Lancer or Toyota Corolla, with right front-end damage. The car may have also a broken headlight, a broken windshield or a broken passenger-side mirror.
Police said the vehicle was last seen traveling north on Walerga Road near Penwith Way, then headed east on Don Julio Boulevard.
An investigation is underway. Authorities urged anyone with information to contact them at 916-348-2300.
