Two Vehicles Collide on Canal School Road in Los Banos Killing One Person
LOS BANOS, CA (July 7, 2024) – One person died and three other people were injured after a two-vehicle accident on Canal School in Los Banos Thursday on July 4.
The fatal accident happened just north of Highway 33. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 22-year-old man was driving a 2017 Nissan southbound Canal School Road. Another man was driving a 2002 Chevrolet northbound on the same road.
For unknown reasons, the driver of the Nissan allowed the car to travel across the solid yellow lines and into the northbound lane of Canal School Road directly in front of the Chevrolet.
The vehicles then collided head-on in the northbound lane. The Chevrolet overturned on its roof, while Nissan landed on its wheels.
The driver of the Nissan, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Paramedics transported three other people to local hospitals with major to minor injuries.
CHP officials said drugs or alcohol do not seem to be a factor in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
