Dora Magana Among Three Killed in Head-On Accident on Old Highway 80 [San Diego, CA]

Head-On Crash on Old Highway 80 in Mountain Empire Area Kills Three and Injures Two

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 7, 2024) – Dora Valencia Magana was among three people who died in a head-on accident in the Mountain Empire area of San Diego early Friday morning on June 28.
 
The fatal accident happened around 1:00 a.m. on Old Highway 80, just west of Tierra Del Sol Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Magana was driving a 2015 Toyota Camry eastbound on Old Highway 80. At the same time, a 65-year-old Boulevard woman was driving a 1995 Ford F-150 westbound.
 
For unknown reasons, Magana drove to the left, across the solid double yellow lines, and crossed into the westbound lane. She then collided head-on into the Ford.
 
After the initial crash, Magana exited the vehicle and was standing in the eastbound lane when a 2000 Honda CR-V, driven by a 58-year-old Boulevard man approached. Not seeing Magana or the Camry, the man crashed into both.

As a result, Magana suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was a 44-year-old Boulevard resident.

Paramedics rushed the driver of the Ford and her 70-year-old passenger to a local hospital, where they also died.

Another passenger in the Ford, a 62-year-old man, suffered major injuries. The driver of the Honda was had non-life-threatening injuries.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, which is still under investigation.

CHP officials asked witnesses of the crash to call CHP officer Jared Grieshaber at 619-401-2000.
