22-Year-Old Passenger Dies in Garden Grove Broadside Accident

 
GARDEN GROVE, CA (February 15, 2021) – A 22-year-old man was killed in a broadside accident in Garden Grove Monday evening.
 
The accident occurred at 10:18 p.m. on West Street south of Dunklee Lane, the Garden Grove Police Department said.
 
Witnesses told police that a Chevrolet Corvette veered into oncoming traffic and slammed into the side of a Buick SUV on West Street.
 
As a result, the man who was sitting in the front passenger seat of the Corvette sustained significant injuries. Paramedics rushed him to UC Irvine Medical Center, where he later died.
 
Orange County Fire Authority crews also rushed the two drivers to a hospital with critical injuries. Another occupant in the Buick was also injured and hospitalized.
 
Family members identified the deceased victim as Daniel Delgado, a veteran and a father of a 2-month-old boy. They created a GoFundMe page for funeral expenses.
 
Police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
