Kristi Ewings Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Water Street in Santa Cruz

 
SANTA CRUZ, CA (February 12, 2021) – Kristi Ewings died after she was struck by a semi-truck on Water Street on February 10.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at River Street around 3:30 PM.
 
Based on a report, Kristi Ewings, a Santa Cruz County resident, was walking a dog at the time of the crash. At the same time, a semi was making a right-hand turn onto River. Due to unknown reasons, Ewing stepped out into a marked crosswalk and was hit by the truck.
 
As a result, Ewings and her dog died in the incident. Traffic investigators were still in the process of determining if Ewing was crossing with the “walk” signal.
 
After the crash, the driver of the semi-truck remained on the scene and fully cooperated with police investigators.
 
At this time, police say there is no evidence of driver impairment or negligence.
