22-Year-Old Compton Man Dies in Motorcycle Accident at Long Beach and Del Amo Boulevards
LONG BEACH, CA (February 25, 2021) – A young man died Monday evening after a motorcycle accident at Long Beach Boulevard and Del Amo Boulevard.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the accident happened around 7:00 p.m., February 22.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 1997 Chevrolet S10 truck, driven by a 29-year-old Long Beach man, was traveling eastbound on Del Amo Boulevard and made a left turn into a parking lot.
While making the turn, the truck hit a westbound 2017 Honda motorcycle, driven by a 22-year-old male resident of Compton.
As a result, the motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries and died at the hospital.
Authorities did not release the victim’s name pending family notification.
Meanwhile, the truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. His name was not released.
Police did not rule out impairment or distracted driving as factors in the crash. They asked anyone with further information to call detectives at 562-570-7355, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
