Diners Injured after DUI Driver Crashed into Santa Monica Al Fresno Dining, Piper Pollard Arrested
SANTA MONICA, CA (February 12, 2021) – Police arrested 21-year-old Piper Pollard for DUI after crashing into a barricade protecting an outdoor dining area of a Santa Monica restaurant.
According to the Santa Monica Police Department, the incident occurred outside Urth Cafe in the 2300 block of Main Street around 8:00 p.m.
Pollard, a Pacific Palisades resident, was driving a BMW sedan northbound when she crashed into the al fresco dining area.
A heavy K-rail was knocked into the dining area sending tables and chairs flying. A few diners suffered minor injuries from the incident.
Meanwhile, Pollard sustained moderate injuries. Police arrested and booked her on suspicion of felony DUI.
Further investigation is underway.
