Authorities Identify Motorist Killed in Lancaster Crash on 10th Street West
LANCASTER, CA (March 11, 2021) – Authorities identified the man who died in a two-vehicle accident last month in Lancaster.
According to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, 66-year-old Craig Smith of Lancaster died at the scene.
The accident happened around 5:21 p.m. Saturday, February 20, on 10th Street West south of Avenue H-12.
A preliminary investigation revealed Smith was trying to make U-turn on 10th Street West to travel south in a Mercedes. At the same time, a male adult in a Ram 1500 was traveling north on 10th Street West.
The two vehicles collided, killing Smith upon impact.
A man and two women riding in the car with Smith were injured, according to the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.
Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle was not hurt.
The cause of the collision is still being investigated, but speed does not appear to be a factor in the collision, sheriff’s officials said.
