DUI Accident on West Leland Road in Pittsburg Leaves 2 Dead and Injures 5
PITTSBURG, CA (April 12, 2021) – Two people were killed in a DUI accident on West Leland Road in Pittsburg Monday night, April 12.
The accident happened around 6:03 p.m. just east of John Henry Johnson Parkway. According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident involved a Toyota Corolla and a Chevrolet Camaro.
Both vehicles were traveling eastbound on West Leland Road. The Camaro was speeding when it crashed into the rear of the Toyota. The impact caused the Toyota to lose control and strike a tree.
As a result, the driver of the Toyota died at the scene. Four passengers were ejected and suffered serious injuries.
Three of the four injured passengers were juveniles, one died at the hospital.
Two passengers inside the Camaro also suffered serious injuries and were taken to area hospitals.
Meanwhile, the Camaro’s driver was uninjured and showed signs of impairment. Police arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence.
At this time, the accident is under investigation.
