Police Arrest Bloomington Man after Killing Bicyclist in DUI Accident on Pacific Coast Highway
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (May 28, 2021) – A bicyclist was killed in a DUI accident on Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach Thursday afternoon, May 27.
The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. at First Street. According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, the bicyclist was attempting to cross Pacific Coast Highway against a traffic signal when a 2007 silver Toyota Yaris struck him.
As a result, the victim suffered critical injuries. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he later died. Authorities only identified him as a 68-year-old Huntington Beach man.
Police arrested and booked the driver of the Toyota, a 23-year-old Bloomington man, on suspicion of driving under the influence.
An investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
