Coroner Identifies Two of 3 Teens Killed in Palm Springs Rollover Crash on Highway 111
PALM SPRINGS, CA (May 26, 2021) – Dennis Leonard Savard II and Jazmen Marie Thomas were among three teenagers who died in a rollover accident Friday evening, May 21.
The accident happened on Highway 111 near Angel Canyon Trail. The teens were in a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger that went off the roadway and overturned several times. The area is between Windy Point and the Palm Springs Visitor Center.
Both Savard and Thomas died at the scene between 8:14 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The third unidentified victim died at the hospital.
Savard was 17 years old, while Thomas was 16 years old. Both were residents of Banning, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
Another teen was seriously injured and was treated at Desert Regional Medical Center.
Debris from the crash hit a nearby Tesla.
Officials did not identify which teen was driving, but they said the vehicle was travelling at an excessive speed.
The crash is still under investigation.
