Motorcyclist Killed in Traffic Accident on Artesia Freeway near Shoemaker Avenue [Cerritos, CA]

Traffic Accident on Artesia Freeway in Cerritos Kills Rider

 
CERRITOS, CA (May 30, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed in a traffic accident on Artesia (91) Freeway in Cerritos early Sunday morning, May 30.
 
The accident happened around 2:35 a.m., just west of Shoemaker Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 37-year-old rider from Long Beach was riding a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle westbound at approximately 100 mph. For unknown reasons, he veered to the right and in front of a vehicle.
 
A sedan hit the motorcycle, ejecting the rider from the bike and into a wall.
 
First responders pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. CHP officials also added that the victim may have been rear-ended by a party bus.
 
The crash remains under investigation. The CHP’s Santa Fe Springs office urged anyone with further information to call them at 562-868-0503.
