One Killed in Fiery Accident on 80 Freeway under San Pablo Dam Road [San Pablo, CA]

Passenger Dies in San Pablo Fiery Accident on 80 Freeway

 
SAN PABLO, CA (May 23, 2021) – A passenger died in a fiery accident on 80 Freeway in San Pablo early Saturday morning, May 22.
 
The accident happened around 12:30 a.m. under San Pablo Dam Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Ford Expedition was traveling along the freeway when the driver made a sudden turning movement in an attempt to avoid a small animal in the roadway.
 
The SUV lost control, crashed into a concrete abutment and burst into flames.
 
As a result, the passenger in the car died at the scene. The driver managed to escape with minor injuries.
 
Authorities did not release the victim’s identity pending family notification.
 
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
