Afternoon Two-Vehicle Accident on Merced Avenue in Wasco Leaves 1 Driver Dead
[WASCO, CA (June 8, 2021) – A man died in a two-vehicle accident at Merced Avenue and Magnolia Avenue Monday afternoon.
The accident happened just after 12:00 p.m. on June 7. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a 2015 Toyota pickup truck when he collided with a semi truck in the intersection.
The semi was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection prior to the crash, the CHP said. The driver of the Toyota applied his brakes and turned to the left to try to avoid hitting the semi but ended up hitting the right side of it.
As a result, the 34-year-old Wasco man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the semi was unharmed.
CHP officials are still trying to determine the factors involved the crash.
