Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 70 in Oroville Kills Motorcyclist

 
OROVILLE, CA (July 18, 2021) – Brian Crawford died in a motorcycle hit-and-run crash on Highway 70 in Oroville Thursday evening.
 
The crash happened around 10:00 p.m. on July 15, just north of Feather River Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 59-year-old Linda man was riding his 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on the highway. At the same time, the driver of a vehicle was heading in the same direction.
 
For unknown reasons, the driver of the vehicle merged into the right lane, colliding with the motorcycle. The impact caused Crawford to lose control and crash into the metal guardrail.
 
Crawford suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
After the crash, the involved driver continued southbound and remains at large.
 
A witness and physical evidence at the scene helped determine the cause of the crash. Officers urged anyone with further information to contact Yuba-Sutter CHP at 674-5141.
