Driver Hit and Killed on Highway 101 near Highway 156 [Prunedale, CA]

Driver Fatally Struck on Highway 101 while Calling 911 Due to Car Crash

 
PRUNEDALE, CA (July 25, 2021) – A driver calling for help was hit and killed by a car on Highway 101 near Highway 156 in Prunedale.
 
The fatal crash happened around 5:45 a.m. on Friday, July 16. According to the California Highway Patrol, two vehicles collided for unknown reasons. After the crash, one of the drivers got out of his car and called 911.
 
While standing on the roadway, another vehicle traveling south on Highway 101 struck the man.
 
Paramedics arrived soon after and pronounced the man dead at the scene. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
