Man Fatally Struck by Pickup in Modesto Pedestrian Accident on B Street near Beard Street

 
MODESTO, CA (July 26, 2021) — A man in a wheelchair died after a pedestrian accident on B Street in Modesto on Wednesday, July 21.
 
According to Modesto Police spokeswoman Sharon Bear, the incident happened at around 10:00 p.m. on B Street south of Beard Street. The man was crossing B Street outside of a crosswalk. Then an eastbound Dodge Dakota driven by a 27-year-old Modesto man hit him.
 
Bear said the driver of the Dodge remained at the scene. Drugs and/or alcohol did not appear as factors in the incident.
 
Paramedics pronounced the man in the wheelchair dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately available, pending notification of his loved ones.
