Fatal Broadside Crash at Temperance and Jensen Avenues
FRESNO, CA (July 29, 2021) – A man died and a woman sustained critical injuries after a broadside accident at Temperance Avenue and Jensen Avenue in Fresno.
The accident happened just after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 26-year-old man was driving a Kia Forte westbound on Jensen when he ran a red light. He then broadsided a Toyota Highlander, driven by a 63-year-old woman, at the intersection.
When officers arrived, they found the drivers both suffering from major injuries. They rushed them to Community Regional Center, where the man later died. The woman remains in critical condition.
The SUV had the right of way and the Kia ran the red light for an unknown reason, the CHP said. The man was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Drugs and alcohol are not suspected and the investigation is ongoing.
