Four Vehicles Involved in Fatal Crash on Highway 99 in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 15, 2021) – Police confirmed that one person died in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 99 on July 12.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Rosedale Highway around 6:21 PM.
Based on reports, a Ford was heading southbound on Highway 99 in the construction bypass lane prior to the crash. Then, it stopped for traffic, while a Toyota and Honda that were behind the vehicle also slowed down. However, a Dodge failed to slow down and struck the rear of the Honda. Subsequently, the Honda slammed into the rear of the Toyota, which pushed into the rear of the Ford.
The driver of the Dodge, a 72-year-old Van Nuys resident, died in the collision. Officials did not yet release the identity of the victim. The driver of the Honda had minor injuries.
At this point, the CHP is still investigating this fatal multi-vehicle crash on Highway 99. In addition, no other details are available.
