Person Killed in Bakersfield Pedestrian Crash on Highway 178
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 20, 2021) — One person died in a pedestrian accident on Highway 178 near Golden State Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 9:00 p.m. Under unclear circumstances, a driver in a westbound Toyota struck the pedestrian who was walking in and out of the lanes.
As a result of the crash, the victim suffered major injuries and died a short time later. Although, the Kern County coroner’s office has yet to release the person’s identity.
As for the driver of the Toyota, paramedics shuttled the patient to Kern Medical for treatment of minor injuries.
Since the cause and other details remain unanswered, authorities plan to look at all angles to establish more information. However, for those who have more details on this fatal crash, please contact the CHP.
