2 Drivers Dead in Fresno County Head-On Crash on Highway 180
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (August 17, 2021) — Two drivers died in Monday’s head-on accident on Highway 180 near James Road.
According to police officers, the fatal incident happened around 6:30 p.m. For unknown reasons, a Ford heading westbound veered toward the oncoming eastbound lane and collided head-on with a Honda Odessey.
Subsequently, an eastbound Dodge pickup traveling behind the Honda swerved to avoid the crash but overturned instead.
Due to the nature of the accident, the 21-year-old man driving the Honda and the Ford driver suffered fatal injuries. The man operating the Dodge sustained moderate injuries. Meanwhile, three people in the Honda, including a 16-year-old and an infant, were brought to Community Regional Medical Center.
At this time, police have no confirmation on the ultimate cause of the accident. However, they do suspect that the Ford driver might have been impaired at the time.
We would like to express our condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
