58-Year-Old Man Dies after He Collides with Another Vehicle on Highway 99 near Highway 58
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 11, 2021) – Francisco Hernandez Santana was killed in a two-vehicle accident Thursday evening in Bakersfield.
The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. on August 5, on Highway 99 near the eastbound Highway 58 on-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, Santana was driving a 2005 Ford sedan south on Highway 99 at an unsafe speed. He then slammed into the rear of a 2012 Ford two-axle truck that was slowing in the area due to a previous crash.
As a result, Santana suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a 58-year-old Farmersville resident, according to the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
The other driver sustained minor injuries and sought own treatment.
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
