32-Year-Old Man Dies after Driver Crashes into His Parked Car at Fresno County Auto Dealership
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (August 8, 2021) – Magal Bhatti and Todd Lyman died in a multi-vehicle accident in Fresno County Wednesday afternoon, August 4.
The accident happened around 4:40 p.m. on Clovis Avenue near Dakota Avenue. CHP officials said Lyman, a 53-year-old man Clovis resident, was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer when he veered to the right and hit a curb. The impact caused him to lose control and hit a fire hydrant.
The Trailblazer then careened into a parked Toyota Camry, which then pushed into two other vehicles at a car dealership. Bhatti, a 32-year-old man, was inside the Camry when the crash occurred.
Lyman was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the SUV. He died on the spot.
Bhatti suffered major injuries from the crash. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he also died.
Officers said the driver of the Camry was shopping for a new vehicle, but Bhatti stayed in the car.
The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor.
