Man Dies in Long Beach Pedestrian Crash on Pacific Coast Highway
LONG BEACH, CA (August 9, 2021)—A man died in a pedestrian crash on Pacific Coast Highway at Hayes Avenue Thursday evening.
According to Long Beach Police, the fatal crash happened around 6:00 p.m. For unknown reasons, a male pedestrian was standing in the street near the north curb of Pacific Coast Highway and suddenly ran southbound across traffic. Subsequently, an oncoming big rig struck the pedestrian.
Soon after, paramedics responded and tended to the gravely injured victim, who died moments later. Meanwhile, the trucker stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
