Erin Garcia Detained for DUI after Dragging Child, Bystander on Orchid Drive near Melrose Street

 
PLACENTIA, CA (September 20, 2021) — Erin Garcia faces DUI charges after hitting and dragging her child and a bystander on Orchid Drive near Melrose Street.
 
According to Placentia police, the incident happened around 11:00 p.m. Thursday. For DUI-related reasons, 44-year-old Garcia, whose 8-year-old tried to stop her from driving drunk, drove away and dragged the child about 300 feet. At some point, a bystander trying to stop the incident became involved and was also dragged.
 
Soon after, paramedics arrived and tended to the child and bystander who sustained moderate injuries. Subsequently, they found Garcia hiding behind the bushes in the back of her mother’s home.
 
At this time, Garcia remains incarcerated at Orange County Jail on child endangerment, assault with a deadly weapon and other charges. If anyone has more information, please call the investigators.
