Two-Vehicle Accident on San Pablo Dam Road near El Sobrante Kills One Passenger
EL SOBRANTE, CA (October 3, 2021) – One person died and three others sustained injuries in a two-vehicle accident on San Pablo Dam Road near El Sobrante Saturday morning.
The accident happened around 11:15 a.m. on October 2, just north of Bear Creek Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a red Toyota Tacoma was traveling northbound and a white Honda Civic was traveling southbound.
The driver of the Honda was driving on the shoulder of the roadway to pass traffic, lost control of the vehicle, then crossed into the northbound lane where it collided with the Toyota.
As a result, the rear passenger of the Honda suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the Honda suffered major injuries, while the front passenger had minor injuries.
The driver of the Toyota also sustained minor injuries.
This fatal crash remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the events leading up to it is urged to contact the CHP Contra Costa office in Martinez at (925) 646-4980.
